Explain limited AI use and human editorial control.

FinancialSumo technology standards

FinancialSumo’s stated use of artificial intelligence is limited to image generation and illustration. FinancialSumo does not currently use AI to generate article drafts, translate articles, summarize source material or monitor sources.

This policy explains the current scope of permitted AI-assisted work, the uses that remain outside FinancialSumo’s stated workflow, the role of human editorial judgment and the standards applied to AI-generated visual material.

Permitted use

How AI May Be Used

FinancialSumo may use AI-assisted tools to create illustrations, conceptual visuals, article cover images or other non-documentary graphic material.

An AI-assisted visual may be used to communicate the general subject, theme or context of an article. Its appearance does not establish that the depicted scene, person, place, document, transaction or event actually existed in the form shown.

Presentation standard

AI-generated images should not be presented as authentic photographs, verified screenshots, financial records, source documents or documentary evidence of an actual event.

Current restrictions

How AI Is Not Used

FinancialSumo does not currently use AI for the following editorial activities:

  • Generating article drafts or complete editorial articles
  • Translating editorial content
  • Summarizing articles, documents or source materials
  • Monitoring sources or identifying news developments
  • Making publication, correction or ranking decisions
  • Fabricating sources, quotations, names, events, credentials, documents, data or statistics

Human Editorial Responsibility

AI Is Not an Authoritative Source

An AI system cannot replace a primary source, official document, public record, expert source or other evidence appropriate to the claim being reported.

Humans Retain Editorial Judgment

Human editorial judgment remains responsible for publication decisions, source standards, factual presentation, context, corrections, article labeling and the selection of visual material.

Fabricated Information Is Not Acceptable

AI must not be used to invent facts, quotations, people, companies, events, credentials, research, documents, financial data or other material that could be mistaken for verified information.

FinancialSumo remains responsible for the material it publishes, how that material is presented and how verified errors are corrected.

AI-Generated Images and Illustrations

AI-assisted visuals should support reader understanding without being presented as proof of a real person, transaction, document, location or news event.

Conceptual and Editorial Use

AI-assisted visuals may represent broad concepts such as markets, banking, technology, investing, personal finance or economic developments.

A conceptual image should not be interpreted as a verified photograph of a specific event or as evidence supporting the article’s factual claims.

No False Documentary Meaning

AI-generated visuals should not falsely depict a real person making a statement, participating in an event or appearing in a location where that person was not verified to have been present.

They should not imitate financial statements, government records, account screenshots, evidence, quotations or official documents in a way that may mislead readers.

FinancialSumo covers subjects that may affect financial decisions and other major life matters. AI-generated or AI-assisted material must not create unsupported financial, legal, tax, investment, insurance, medical, safety or other professional claims.

AI-generated visual material does not change the informational nature of FinancialSumo’s editorial content and does not turn general information into personalized professional advice.
